Tells a story about a “deal” and a “value” doesn’t it. On topic, my wifes cousin had a cayenne for a while, loved driving it, hated dealing with it. Drives a 4Runner now.

I don’t trust a single one of those as much as I’d trust a toddler with a hand grenade

This is extremely relevant info. I liked the Cayenne a lot when it came out regardless of brand dilution, and I suspect others here did as well, but new prices were a heaping helping of Do Not Want.

If you can compromise on reliability these put the S in SUV.

I bet it is better than a lot of German cars!

I love a fast SUV. I don’t care what brand it comes from. They check all my boxes. Fun, luxurious, fast, they can haul the boat or trailer full or wood, and they can carry all my gun cases when I go to the shooting range.

I see a relatively large (for Porsche) number of the non-turbos in the wild, even older years. Very few Turbos, but that may have more to do with price than reliability.

Do you know what (if anything) they shared engines with? VW/Toureg

But it’s Lincoln MKC-level rebadging

That $10k is more like a down payment. Future installments will appear randomly in large lump sums you’ll be handing over to the dealer and/or Porsche Performance Parts inc.

I believe they did share a lot of components including the engine with the Toureg

I was always intrigued by the few examples of the Cayenne and the X5 that you can find with a stick, but they’re too rare for me to seriously search for one as a DD.

If you found one with a stick it would likely be overpriced too

Some kid in my high school has one in red on some awful 22" wheels. Apparently he paid around $12k for it. But oh my god. Kids think he is the coolest person ever. That Porsche badge makes him a fucking legend. He must be so rich. I’m so jealous.. Meanwhile my civic was worth more.

One of the problems is the panoramic roof has a tendency of getting hit by rocks and costing 10k to replace...

Dunno why I’ve never like these. If I needed a vehicle like this, it would be an XC90. If I really needed a vehicle like this, with serious off road capability, I’d get a Land Cruiser.

It’s a gamble and depends a lot on who bought it. Some dealers get stuck with them and they get marked down quite a bit. Private party they’re always jacked up because the enthusiast who bought it new “knows what they have”.

Civic was worth more but likely didn’t have as much character.

That being said used Cayennes are bought by two kinds of people. Badge snobs and crazy car nerds that know the Cayenne will ruin their lives but want them anyway. The badge snobs are ass holes

The Turbo S our customer had did and it cracked twice while still under warranty. Once after. 10G’s large to fix.

In that case I’d get an AMG wagon or M5 wagon (if only it were available in US America).

Brake booster replacement was a few grand. Tires pretty expensive too. This is a Tavarish special. Cheap to buy, stupid to own.

Yeah but they can’t haul almost 8,000 pounds and while that isn’t important to a lot of people it is important to someone like me who does actually tow
